Teen Killed In Crash With 18-Wheeler

 

ODESSA, TX – A crash involving an 18-wheeler near Odessa left one person dead late Sunday night.

According to the Department of Public Safety,  the crash occurred on State Highway 302 at approximately 10:00 p.m.

When troopers arrived at the scene, they located an 18-wheeler and a Dodge Charger.

The preliminary investigation revealed both vehicles were traveling westbound when the driver of the 18-wheeler slowed down as it attempted to turn into a parking lot. The Dodge Charger then crashed into the rear of the tractor-trailer.

One of the passengers of the Dodge Charger, identified as 19-year-old Nicholas Terrazas, died at the scene. Terrazas was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The driver and two other passengers were transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
