ABILENE, TX -- The Department of Public Safety has confirmed a 16-year-old girl was killed in a crash on Wednesday afternoon.
According to DPS, five occupants were traveling east on I-20 aboard a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer. Several of the passengers were students of Trent ISD.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the Mountaineer lost control as they exited the highway. The car then swerved back and forth before rolling multiple times. The car would then end up on its top.
DPS confirmed the teen died as a result of the car and the other four occupants were transported to Hendrick Medical Center for treatment.
Trent ISD issued a statement that read in part:
"Trent ISD Family,
