Police Release Details on SAPD-Involved Crash on Houston Harte

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — A San Angelo Police Department patrol vehicle was involved in a traffic collision early Sunday morning on Houston Harte Expressway that left a cruiser overturned and sent two people to the hospital with minor injuries.

According to a San Angelo Police Department news release, officers were dispatched at approximately 6:54 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, to the 900 block of eastbound Houston Harte Expressway, which is in front of Central High School. The crash involved a police vehicle and a disabled vehicle that was stopped in the roadway.

Police said the driver of the disabled vehicle and the officer were transported to Shannon Medical Center for evaluation and treatment of minor injuries.

The crash is being investigated by the Texas Department of Public Safety, according to police. No further information was available as of Sunday morning.

Earlier Sunday, the department issued a Nixle alert advising drivers to avoid the area near Central High School due to the crash. Reporters on scene observed a San Angelo police cruiser overturned on its roof and an older-model pickup truck with heavy damage on the driver’s side.
