ODESSA, TX – A 22-year-old Odessa man is behind bars after he allegedly caused a fatal four-vehicle crash late Tuesday night.
According to the Odessa Police Department, at approximately 11:28 p.m. first responders were dispatched to the area of Grandview and Cumberland for a 4-vehicle crash.
The primary investigation revealed Leo Andre Flores was traveling north on North Grandview in a white Chevrolet Silverado. Flores failed to control his speed and struck the back of a Hyundai Santa Fe.
The impact caused the Santa Fe to roll over and strike a parked Dodge Ram. The Chevrolet Silverado then struck a Toyota Highlander head-on. Flores then left the scene of the crash and later evaded officers on foot.
The two occupants of the Hyundai Santa Fe were identified as 38-year-old Enrique Garcia Rubio and 41-year-old Cynthia Leyva. Both occupants were transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Toyota Highlander was identified as 55-year-old Heriberto Hernandez. His two passengers were identified as 55-year-old Laura Brown and 27-year-old Steven Brown.
Heriberto Hernandez and Laura Brown were pronounced dead at the scene and Steven Brown was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. All three occupants of the Highlander were from Odessa.
According to investigators, Flores may have been intoxicated at the time of the crash and the white Silverado had been reported stolen.
Floes now faces the following charges:
- 2 counts of Intoxication Manslaughter - Felony 2
- 3 counts of Intoxication Assault - Felony 3
- 2 counts of Fail to Stop & Render Aid - Felony 2
- 3 counts of Fail to Stop & Render Aid - Felony 3
- Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle - State Jail Felony
- Evading - Class A Misdemeanor
Flores was arrested and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
