Colorado City Woman Killed in Rollover Crash

SWEETWATER, TX – Texas DPS Troopers confirmed the death of a Colorado City woman who was involved in a crash on I-20.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, on Apr. 25 at around 12:40 p.m., troopers with the DPS were dispatched to the I-20 in Sweetwater for a report a major crash involving a trailer.

When the troopers arrived they discovered a 2008 Nissan Titan that was towing a trailer had rolled over and was blocking multiple lanes of traffic.

There were two passengers in the vehicle: Randy G. Chambers, male, 63, of Colorado City and Connie J. Chambers, female, 62, of Colorado City.

Randy Chambers was transported to Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater with incapacitating injury. He is reported to be in stable condition. Randy was driving the vehicle and was not wearing his seatbelt.

The passenger, Connie J. Chambers, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was taken to McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater. She was also not wearing her seatbelt.

Troopers believe that the Titan was traveling West on I-20 in the right lane. When Randy attempted a lane change to the left and he lost control of the vehicle. He then turned back to the right and went into a left side skid.

The Titan and trailer rolled over to the left and onto their top where they came to rest blocking the westbound lanes of I-20.

At the time of the crash the road was dry and the weather was clear.
