TxDOT Sand Truck Rolls on Ice

A TxDOT sand truck has rolled onto its side on 87 S. about a mile south of the loop. The truck was carrying sand intended for use on icy roads, when it lost control and rolled.

The San Angelo Police Department, Tom Green County Sheriff's Office and TxDPS responded to the crash, and the investigation was handed over to the Department of Public Safety.

No serious injuries were reported in the crash, however the truck sustained severe damage and the load was spilled.

Traffic was directed briefly, however the truck lay in the bar ditch so no heavy obstruction of traffic was caused by the accident.

A responding officer stated that the stretch of 87 S. around the wreck was the worst road he'd been on all day, and strongly advised motorists to avoid driving this afternoon as the temperature drops, particularly in that area.

Well, the driver of this truck may be found responsible of failure to control speed and see a Termination Of Employment smackdown coming his/her way. Unfortunate for the employee.
