Flying Mattress Causes Fatal Crash

HAWLEY, TX -- A wayward mattress led to a fatal crash on Hwy 277 in Hawley, TX near the Brazos River Bridge.

According to the Hawley Police Department, early Tuesday morning a mattress flew out of the back of a truck.

A passing driver ran over the mattress and spun out of control. The driver, identified as 40-year-old Dustin Garcia, was killed after he was struck by an 18-wheeler after he lost control of his vehicle.

Hawley PD is searching for the driver of a brown pickup that was hauling the mattress. Anyone with information is asked to call 325-537-9311.
