Dallas Man Killed in Fatal Crash with 18-Wheeler

 

ABILENE, TX – The Texas Department of Public Safety has announced the identity of a man who was killed in a fatal crash involving two vehicles yesterday afternoon approximately .1 miles west of Merkel.

According to the report, on Tuesday afternoon at approximately 12:04 p.m. a 1999 Cadillac Eldorado  was traveling westbound on IH-20 when the driver lost control of the vehicle due to wet and slushy road conditions, crossed the center median and struck an 18-wheeler in the oncoming eastbound lane.  

All occupants in both vehicles were reported to have been wearing their seatbelts at the time, however Juarez was pronounced dead a the scene due to injuries he sustained in the crash.

On Tuesday the DPS reported the second vehicle as a 2019 Volvo truck pulling a tractor trailer, at which time was determined to be occupied by two 40-year-old male passengers from Michigan when Juarez' vehicle crossed into their lane.

Following a preliminary investigation the two occupants of the 18-wheeler were released at the scene with no injuries being reported at this time. 

According to DPS the crash is still under investigation at this time, however information may change, be corrected, or added based on the investigator's findings.
