Wildire Burning Out of Control Near Iraan

 

IRAAN, TX — The Texas A&M Forest Service has confirmed firefighters are battling a large fire near Iraan.

The fire has been named the Smith Canyon Fire is currently in Pecos County and burning an estimated 4,000 acres. 

According to the Texas A&M Forest Service, the fire is currently zero percent contained.

As firefighters on the ground work to contain the spread, aircraft have been called in to aid.

In an effort to aid firefighters, the Iraan General Hospital is accepting donations. Water, Gatorade, Powerade, and individually packaged snacks can be dropped off at a trailer near the emergency driveway.
