SAN ANTONIO, TX — Nearly a month after her children found 27-year-old Cora Nickel in a pool of blood inside their home, SAPD officers have arrested a suspect in connection to her murder.
According to court documents, her kids – ages 5 and 8 – texted their grandmother when they found the body. According to investigators, the text read: "to come over, red stuff all over the floor and think mom is dead."
The subsequent investigation led to the identification of 29-year old Jorge Izquierdo, Nickel’s partner and the father of the children.
The children told investigators that their parents had gotten into an argument after they came home from a party.
After reaching out to neighbors, investigators noted suspicious activity at the home that all led back to Izquierdo.
Court records indicate that detectives assigned to the case received a call from the Oxnard California Police Department.
According to the department, a family member claimed that Izquierdo had arrived in California and had asked a second family member to pick them up from a nearby park.
That family member told authorities Izquierdo planned to turn himself in and was arrested later that day.
Izquierdo faces a murder charge.
