Police Locate 18-Wheeler Involved in Fatal Hit-And-Run

SAN ANTONIO, TX – San Antonio police officers located an 18-wheeler involved in a fatal hit and run nearly 20 miles away from the scene.

According to KTXS, around 6:00 a.m. on Friday the driver of an 18-wheeler rear-ended a small Ford Fiesta.

The driver of the Fiesta, a 40-year-old woman, was killed in the crash. The driver of the 18-wheeler didn’t stop and drove for 20 miles before he abandoned the big rig in downtown San Antonio.

A second person who was in the rig stayed behind at the scene and provided police information about the driver who remains on the run.

A citizen that noticed the extensive front-end damage to the 18-wheeler called police. When officers arrived, they found parts of the victim’s car stuck underneath it.

“We don’t know why the driver didn’t stop but this is a crime," said San Antonio Police Officer Doug Greene. "When you get into an accident here in the state of Texas you are required to stop and check on the individuals it’s called failure to stop and render aid.”

The driver is described as a man standing 6-foot-2, with short dreadlocks, and was wearing a burgundy shirt and gray pants.

San Antonio PD has been in contact with the driver’s employer, is reviewing security camera footage, and have a helicopter looking for the suspect.

When found, the driver faces a felony charge of failure to stop and render aid.
