SAN ANGELO, TX — On Thursday afternoon, the San Angelo police said they visited the Super 8 Motel on West Avenue L for the report of an unconscious person. There, police said they spotted a suspected gang member who was in possession of a firearm.
Police also claimed they found 21 grams of methamphetamine, 62 grams of cocaine, and approximately 3 grams of Heroin, an assortment of drug paraphernalia, and a large amount of suspected stolen property. Police would not definitely confirm the types of drugs found.
The suspect, identified by fingerprints at the Tom Green County Jail, was a wanted fugitive named 55-year-old Joe Perales. He was initially charged with a U.S. Marshal Hold Warrant. Federal charges are pending.
Later, police in the anti-crime unit spotted another wanted fugitive, 24-year-old Richard Castillo, in a vehicle near 7th and Chadbourne. Castillo was taken into custody without incident.
Police claimed Castillo had 8 ounces of suspected methamphetamine, around $1,300.00 in U.S. Currency, two stolen firearms, and a third firearm that police could not confirm was stolen on his person.
Castillo was charged with his warrants, a motion to revoke probation for an earlier charge of less than 1 gram of a controlled substance, penalty group 1, an MTR of a CS in PG 1 >=1G<4G, and evading arrest in a vehicle or watercraft. There are also federal charges pending the outcome of this ongoing investigation, police said.
