SAN ANGELO, TX – Twenty-one year old Dylan Jupiter Carter has been arrested for the Sexual Assault of a Child after witnesses contacted authorities for the wellbeing of a minor after reports of a possible sexual assault.
According to the affidavit, the defendant and the 14 year old victim had previously shared a relationship, but had been warned against it by family due to a difference in age. Initial reports state that the victim was staying at a witnesses house the evening prior to the assault taking place.
The following afternoon the victim left the residence on Sherwood Way around 1:30 p.m to meet up with the defendant. It was later discovered that the two drove to a different part of the property where the two engaged in sexual contact before returning to the residence. When the victim arrived at the residence witnesses noticed a hickey on the neck of the victim, and contacted authorities.
As of April 5, 2020 Dylan Jupiter Carter has been charged with the Sexual Assault of a Child which is a Second Degree Felony in Texas that carries an incarceration penalty of two to twenty years, a fine not to exceed $10,000.00, and the defendant must register as a sex offender for a lifetime.
A person who is convicted of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault of a child, sexual assault of a dependent or employee may face elevated charges. In some cases, these charges can be elevated to first degree felony status. If this occurs, the punishment could be five to 99 years or life in prison.
