Trucker Arrested for Crashing 18-Wheeler Into Jaguar Killing Passenger

ODESSA, TX – The driver of an 18-wheeler was arrested Thursday after crashing into a luxury car killing the passenger.

According to Newswest 9, on Mar. 19, officers with the Odessa Police Department were dispatched to 1-20 between Grant and Grandview for the report of a major crash involving an 18-wheeler.

When the officers arrived they found an 18-wheeler, a Jaguar passenger car, and a black truck that had crashed in the middle of the interstate.

The driver and passenger of the Jaguar were immediately taken to the hospital for serious life-threatening injuries. The passenger, Amber Sahagun, 39, of Decatur was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

After further investigation officerss found that the driver of the 18-wheeler had been driving for 16 hours straight which is a violation of the Federal Hours of Service Regulation. This is the allegedly the main contributing factor for the 18-wheeler to lose control which caused him to hit the Jaguar from behind which forced it to hit the black truck.

On April 2 the driver of the 18-wheeler Ranjit Singh, 42, was arrested in California by the Unites States Marshal Service for manslaughter and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
