Juvenile Suspect Arrested After Alleged Lewd Assault on a Minor on a School Bus

EARLY, TX– A ten year old Early ISD student has been arrested after being accused of sexually assaulting a nine year old student on a school bus.

According to Early Police Chief David Mercer the alleged assault happened Feb. 6 at the end of the school day.

Reports state that the alleged assault took place while the bus was parked and the bus driver had stepped off the bus to assist another student. Mercer also stated that the bus driver will not be facing any charges while the investigation continues.

DNA evidence has been collected from both the victim and suspect. On  Feb. 13 the suspect was arrested awaiting lab results and prosecution by the County Attorney.

On Tuesday morning, Early ISD Superintendent Wes Beck sent an email to parents to notify them about the sexual assault.

Beck said "steps have been taken to assure we have no more incidents like this on our busses."
