A male subject, 30-year-old Steven Ortiz that has been involved in a police manhunt for the past two hours along the Concho River was apprehended behind Central High School.
Lt. Stacye Jackson of the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office said that the suspect ran across the street on Bryant, where he was struck by a vehicle, and continued to evade on foot.
At that point, the suspect jumped into the Concho River, where he was sniffed out by SAPD K9 Thor.
Law Enforcement called in the Game Warden with an aluminum boat to apprehend the suspect, who was swimming in the river. The man reportedly would not surrender and continued to swim away before he was caught.
The man had two felony warrants that have been confirmed by law enforcement.
Jackson said a deputy was driving when he spotted Ortiz and recognized him, at which point he attempted to stop the felon. At that point, Ortiz evaded.
