Trailer Fire Shuts Down U.S. 67 Near Irion County Line

A trailer being pulled by a pickup caught fire on U.S. 67 near the Iron County line and blocked all lanes of traffic. Traffic was observed backed up for three miles both ways.

The contents of the trailer were reported to be household goods items, not dangerous substances. Dove Creek VFD along with the Irion County VFD extinguished the fire and provided traffic management while Tom Green County and Irion County Sheriff’s Departments investigated.

No one was injured, but first responders were having difficulty finding a wrecker service to come and haul off what was left of the trailer. There is no official word about what caused the fire.

The incident happened at approximately 7:10 p.m. Wednesday evening. Home Motors was able to provide assistance and arrived at 7:50 p.m.
