Driver Reaches for Sandwich Causing Him to Hit Pedestrian

 

SAN ANGELO, TX -- A pedestrian was struck by a car after the driver dropped his sandwhich and tried to pick it back up. 

On June 12, the San Angelo Police Department was dispatched to the intersection of Beauregard and Garrett for a motor major vehicle accident. 

When police arrived they found a man lying on the ground in serious pain. The man was taken to Shannon for treatment. 

According to Officer Quade, the pedestrian had just finished loading vehicle on the back of his trailer and was standing by the tool box. This is when a silver ford came around the corner heading south on Garrett swerved and struck the man and his truck.

After investigating the crash police say that the driver of the ford was eating a sandwich, dropped it, and reached for it again to cause the distraction that made him strike the person. 

The driver of the ford was cited with failure to control speed.
