Trailer Disconnects from 18-Wheeler and Shuts Down Sherwood Way

SAN ANGELO, TX — A truck tractor's semi-trailer disconnected from the tractor for an unknown reason requiring the truck driver to come to an immediate stop in the middle of Sherwood Way Saturday afternoon.

All westbound traffic was blocked and detoured in what is a very busy intersection for shoppers on a Saturday afternoon.

According to police, the incident is what it is. The trucker played it safe and police were there to aid in clearing the roadway and slowing traffic approaching the incident.

The local wrecker service Home Motors was able to help reconnect the trailer. Once complete, the truck was moved via tow truck to the Walmart parking lot and disaster was averted.

The driver didn't check his fifth wheel pin to make sure the trailer was locked in. Shame on him for his lax pretrip inspection. I did it one time many a year ago, and never again.
