VIDEO: Flood Gates Open at Lake Nasworthy and Twin Buttes Rising Fast

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Twin Buttes Reservoir near San Angelo is rising fast as flood waters flow in from all its tributaries.  

The reservoir could have over 50,000 acre feet by the end of the day.  There is a flood warning for the South Concho River until tonight.

The South Concho River flows into the south pool of Twin Buttes. The Middle Concho, Dove Creek and Spring Creek flow into the north pool of Twin Buttes.

The National Weather Service in San Angelo has issued a Flood Warning for Tom Green, Runnels and Concho counties until 10:15 p.m. Thursday.

Law enforcement continues to report many secondary roads with flooded and impassable low water crossings. There are also reports of small creeks running full and spilling over.

Some locations that will experience flooding include San Angelo, Ballinger, Winters, Paint Rock, Christoval, Maverick, Eden, Miles, Hatchel, Knickerbocker, Eola, Rowena, Orient, San Angelo State Park, Twin Buttes Reservoir, Wingate, Mereta, Carlsbad, Ivie Reservoir Near Concho Park Marina and O.C. Fisher Reservoir.

Do not drive through these low water crossings or any other low water crossing with water flowing across the roadway.

Pecan Creek flows into Lake Nasworthy and the city has opened the flood gates at Nasworthy to allow that water to go down stream.  

Lake Nasworthy is 98.7 percent full.  Twin Buttes has a long way to go.  It's only 22.3 percent full.

There is a combined 7,000 cubic feet per second flowing into Twin Buttes.  

With the gates open at Lake Nasworthy and the storm water runoff, Ben Ficklin dam is also running.
