DNA Test Matches Bones to Murdered Abilene Woman

ABILENE, TX-- Abilene Police Chief Stan Stanridge says a DNA test confrims bones found underneath a house on S. 17th St. are those of a woman they believe was murdered, according to a KTXS report.

The bones were originally discovered in June after police received a tip that Patria Ann Smith Ford, who disappeared in 2016, was buried under the house.

A search warrant states authorities found bone fragments, what is believed to be her hair, a finger nail, a sock and a button in the dirt.

The homeowner, Timothy John Dwelle, was arrested in July and charged with Ford's murder, according to the report.

Ford's daughter called police the day before Dwelle's arrest and said he killed her mom. The daughter recorded a phone conversation she had with Dwelle and gave it to police.

Dwelle is still in jail on a $250,000 bond.
