TxDOT Crews Find "Hail Boulders" North of Barnhart

SAN ANGELO, TX — Reports of downed power lines over State of Texas roadways FM 2469 at SH 163 north of Mertzon sent Texas Department of Transportation crews scrambling. A heavy line of thunderstorms impacted the area just after 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 16.

TxDOT also heard reports of flooding on FM 2469 about 20 miles north of Mertzon. This is a very rural area of the state.

When TxDOT arrived at the intersection of FM 2469 and SH 163 just before 10 p.m., they found the downed power lines off the road. Crews re-opened the roads there as crews were quickly sweeping the hail off the roadway.
