BRADY, TX — A woman from Spring near Houston was killed in a fiery crash three miles southeast of Brady on Sunday afternoon, the Texas DPS reported.
According to the preliminary crash report, Martha Valdivieso Hinke, 70, of Spring, was driving a 2012 Chrysler southbound on FM 2309. At the intersection of SH 71, she failed to yield the right-of-way while making a left turn onto the major highway.
Elridge John Nuñez, 70, of San Angelo, was driving northwest on SH 71 when Hinke entered the roadway. The DPS reported that Nuñez was towing a trailer behind his 2016 GMC Yukon. The Yukon and Chrysler collided, resulting in both vehicles catching fire.
McCulloch County Judge Danny Neal pronounced Martha Hinke dead at the scene.
The location of the crash:
Riding with Hinke were two female passengers. Daniella Charmaine Hinke, 32, or Kingwood, and Tatiana Jazmin Hinke, 34, of Spring, were both transported to a local hospital with incapacitating injuries.
Riding with Elridge Nuñez was his Yukon’s only passenger, Wanda Zipper Nuñez, 69, also of San Angelo. Neither were injured, DPS reported.
DPS reported that all crash victims were wearing seat belts.
The crash happened Sunday, April 8, 2018 at 3:05 p.m. SH 71 was blocked for hours while the crash scene was cleared. The weather was clear and the roadways dry, DPS reported.
