Ford Escape Runs Red Light, Damaging 4 Pickups

SAN ANGELO, TX — Four cars were involved in a pile-up in the intersection of W. Beauregard Ave. and S. Abe St. at around 4 p.m. Saturday. A few souls were injured, and all of them were seated in the car police said started it all.

San Angelo police said a Ford Edge Escape was southbound on Abe and ran a red light at the intersection of Beauregard. A fairly new brown 2015 (or later) Ford F-150 traveling eastbound slammed into the Edge Escape, pushing it into the eastbound traffic on Beauregard.

That eastbound traffic was a Ford F-250 and a Ram 1500 in the inside lane with a sturdy grill guard.

When the Edge Escape hit the Ram, it was pushed into the outside lane and the F-250.

Both the Ford F-250 and Ram drove off under their own power. The grill guard saved the Ram from significant damage.

Not so for the brown F-150.

After the ambulance left the scene rushing all occupants of the Edge Escape to the hospital, two Home Motors flatbed wreckers arrived to transport the brown F-150 and the Edge Escape to the junkyard. Both vehicles had damage that appeared could be repaired.

The intersection was closed for over an hour while firefighters cleaned the pavement and police conducted their crash investigation.

The traffic investigator had incomplete information as to how many people were in the Edge Escape when it crashed and citations are still pending.

The weather was cloudy, rainy and the roadway wet.
