SAN ANGELO, TX — Texas DPS said that a motorcycle driver died after he drifted into the oncoming lane of traffic and was struck head-on by a GMC Sierra Pickup.
Friday night at 6:59 p.m., DPS, Tom Green County Sheriff’s Deputies, and the Quail Valley VFD responded to a major crash on TX 208 near the South Red Creek Bridge.
At the scene, a motorcycle driver, Eric Williams Dunnavant, 41, of San Angelo was pronounced dead by Tom Green County Justice of the Peace Pct. 4 Judge Eddie Howard.
DPS said that Dunnavant, driving a 2006 Harley Davidson Softtail Deluxe bike was driving north on TX 208. At approximately eight miles north of San Angelo, he swung wide in a turn into the oncoming lane of traffic at a curve in the road. A southbound 2016 GMC Sierra Pickup swerved right to miss the motorcyclist, but was too late. The two vehicles collided head-on.
The collision happened just inside the west side fog line of the southbound lane of TX 208.
The GMC pickup driver, Warren Lee Conway, 50, of San Angelo suffered incapacitating injuries.
DPS reported that the motorcycle driver, Dunnavant, was not wearing a helmet.
The skies were clear, though it was dark along that stretch of dry roadway. The speed limit where the crash happened is 75 mph.
