SAN ANGELO, TX — A San Angelo man was killed in what the Texas DPS describes as a high-speed, single vehicle crash north of San Angelo Thanksgiving evening.
According to DPS, the man, identified as James Calvin Wesley, 35, of San Angelo, was northbound on TX 208 approaching the leftward bend in the road at the Red Creek Rd. intersection and failed to navigate the curve. The speed limit along this portion of the highway is 75 mph. DPS stated Wesley was travelling “at a very high rate of speed.”
The 2007 Mazda 6 Wesley was driving ran off the west side of the roadway, traveled through a barrow ditch, and then struck a tree. Wesley was ejected from the Mazda, DPS stated.
Wesley died at the scene as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash. Tom Green County JP Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Judge J.P. McGuire pronounced Wesley dead.
The road was dry and the skies clear. The crash happened at 8:20 p.m. Nov. 23 about 2 miles north of San Angelo on TX 208.
The Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office and Quail Valley VFD assisted at the crash scene. Here is the first story about the crash published right after it happened.
