At least three people were transported to the hospital by ambulance. The air ambulance, Airmed 1, was requested but the low ceiling prevented it from reaching the scene.
According to witnesses at the scene, both of the vehicles were southbound, headed towards San Angelo. In Miles at the point of impact, the speed limit had just reduced from 75 mph to 45 mph. The Trailblazer was observed approaching the Tahoe at a higher rate of speed and slammed into the rear of the Tahoe. The driver of the Tahoe and two people in the Trailblazer were rushed to the hospital with what appeared to be major injuries. Both occupants of the Trailblazer had to be cut out and freed of the vehicle with the Jaws-of-Life.
The Miles Police Department is investigating the crash.
