MIDLAND COUNTY, TX-- A man had to be airlifted from Midland County to the University Medical Center in Lubbock on Thursday after suffering "significant burns", according to News West 9 through Midland County officials.
The fire started at an industrial site about 10 miles outside of Midland on County Road 60 around 1:00 p.m. Workers accidently struck an Enlink pipeline, causing the fire. Dale Little, of Midland County Emergency Management, told News West 9 that 811 calls had been made prior to digging. That pipeline has since been shut down.
Roads around the site had been blocked off to traffic while fire fighters tried to controlled the blaze.
At the time of News West 9's last update at 4:12 p.m., the fire was still burning but contained and the roads had been reopened
Officials have yet to release the identity of the victim and the severity of his injuries remain unknown at this time.
