SAN ANGELO, TEXAS -- Around 7:30 p.m., a head-on collision occurred between two vehicles at the intersection of 44th and Chadbourne.
A green Ford F-150 was traveling northbound when it turned westbound onto 44th and collided with a red Ford Explorer, San Angelo Police Department Officer Cercone explained.
The driver of the green Ford said that he was blinded by the sun and therefore could not see the oncoming car. Both drivers attempted to make evasive maneuvers, but it was too late.
Originally, officers believed they were dispatched to an accident involving an ejected person, but instead officers learned that the dog of the driver of the red Ford had been ejected from the vehicle.
The driver of the red Ford panicked and ran after his dog before speaking to the responding officers.
No major injuries were reported to the drivers of the vehicles and both refused to be transported to Shannon Medical Center.
The driver of the green Ford F-150 has been given a citation for Failure to Control Speed.
