Two Vehicles Collide on S. Oakes Bridge During Rush-Hour Traffic

SAN ANGELO, TX — Around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday evening, two vehicles collided at the 400 block of S. Oakes on the bridge sending two to the hospital.

San Angelo Police Department Officer Josh Loudermilk responded to the scene and determined the heavy traffic on south Concho and south Oakes contributed to the collision. The silver Chevy Silverado pickup began to brake due to the traffic and was struck from behind by the dark green Kia Soul.

The trailer hitch of the Silverado pierced the Kia Soul's front wheel, locking them both together.

The vehicles had one occupant each, and both were sent to the hospital with non-incapacitating injuries. The driver of the Kia Soul was issued a citation for failure to control speed.

It always makes me laugh when our reporters talk about rush hour traffic. It would be more appropriate to call it reckless hour traffic.

Blaming this on so-called "heavy traffic"is just an excuse. If drivers in this town would stop tailgating there wouldn't BE crashes like this!
