Two Horses Die in Eastland County Christmas Morning Crash

EASTLAND COUNTY – Early Christmas morning, emergency officers responded to a single motor vehicle crash involving two horses.

Eastland Fire Department Public Information Officer Sam Williams said in a statement to KTXS that the incident occurred around 5:15 a.m. Sunday morning along Highway 112.

Williams added that the accident happened due to high winds in the area, causing the gate enclosing the horses to open. This gave the horses full access to the highway.

The driver of the pickup truck was not hurt, but air bags were deployed due to the impact.

The horses, unfortunately, did not survive.
