48-Year-Old Abilene Man Dies in Motorcycle Crash

AN ANGELO, TX - A 48-year-old Abilene man died yesterday in a motorcycle crash that took place in the 4800 block of Old Anson Road.

Rick Tomlin, public information coordinator for the Abilene Police Department, said Richard Crawford was riding a Yamaha R1 motorcycle and heading northbound on Old Anson Road around noon.

"He failed to negotiate a curve in the road in the 4800 block and hit a guard rail, and went over into the creek," said Tomlin. "A passerby went to help him until first responders arrived."

Tomlin said Crawford was taken to Hendrick Medical Center, then eventually flown to Lubbock Hospital for treatment of internal injuries. He died later in the evening.
