Two Chevys Collide, Both Drivers Deny Fault

Where Sherwood Way and Beauregard meet, there is a traffic light that features the new styled “protected arrow.” What that light was indicating became a point of contention between both drivers of a two-vehicle crash just after 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Police didn’t say there were witnesses, either.

According to San Angelo Police Department Traffic Investigator Brian Bylsma, a green 2014 Chevy Cruze was eastbound on Sherwood Way and claimed she had a solid green light when a white 2000 Chevrolet pickup turned in front of her, causing the collision.

The driver of the pickup claimed he had a solid green arrow giving him the right-of-way to make a left turn.

Bylsma said he can’t affirmatively determine which driver is telling the truth about the cause of the crash. He did, however, note that the driver of the Cruze was operating her vehicle without a valid driver’s license. She was so cited, Byslma said.

Both drivers, the sole occupants of each vehicle, went to the hospital. The pickup driver went to Shannon Medical Center in a neck brace. The Cruze driver was driven to a medical facility in a private vehicle for treatment.
