ALPINE, TX - This morning, an active shooter alert has been issued at Alpine High School.
According to the Alpine Police Department, all schools in the city are on lockdown. Students are being evacuated, said various news sources.
Alpine has a population of about 5,000 people, and is 63 miles southwest of Ft. Stockton.

Update at 10:45 a.m.
At least one person is dead and another injured in the active shooter situation at Alpine High School.
The Brewster County Sheriff's Office confirmed the fatality, and officials said students have been evacuated into a nearby church.
The first report of shots fired came in at around 8:30 a.m., said local news sources. CNN reported two armed suspects are still at large, according to Brewster County Sheriff officials.
The entire school district remains on lockdown.
Update at 11:25 a.m.
In more updates, various news sources have reported that Brewster County Sheriff Ronny Dodson said a girl shot another girl before turning the gun on herself.
All schools, including nearby Sul Ross University, and administration in Alpine are under critical lockdown after reports of the shooting. Marfa ISD's superintendent also said schools there will be placed under lockdown as a precaution.
Ruth Hucke, a spokeswoman for Big Bend Regional Medical Center in Alpine, said hospital personnel were tending to three victims, but would not provide further details at thist ime.

According to official reports, a police officer was accidentally shot by a marshal when law enforcement officers responded to the school shooting.
Additionally, the shooting took place in the band hall, said Brewster County Attorney J. Steve Houston.
A student at Alpine High School told CNN students had just started their second period when her teacher yelled, "Get in the classroom!"

A Reporter out of Marfa is quoting the Brewster County Sheriff as saying, "one shooter dead from self inflicted shot and one student injured." She is also reporting that they received a phone call making threats against Sul Ross, so they are redirecting manpower.
