Victim Identified in Horrific Crash North of San Angelo

 

SAN ANGELO, TX - Tom Green County Sheriff's Deputies and the Texas DPS are investigating a crash that happened at approximately 6:30 p.m. this evening on FM 2105 north of San Angelo. The crash scene has closed FM 2105 east of SH 208 and before U.S. 277. Quail Valley VFD are on scene along with the San Angelo Fire Department's EMS.

The crash appears to be between a white Ram 2500 and an unrecognizable blue four-door compact passenger car. We have no other official information on the number of vehicles involved. One fatality is confirmed with officials.

Update 8:30 p.m.

The victim of the fatal crash from this afternoon has been identified as Sandra Meza, 55, from Robert Lee, Texas.

According to Trooper Justin Baker, Media Communication Sergeant for San Angelo, Meza was traveling westbound on FM 2105 in a blue 2007 Chevy Aveo when, for unknown reason, she lost control of the vehicle and collided head-on with the white 2012 Dodge Ram 2500 traveling eastbound.

In the truck were three occupants. The driver was Josh Rios, 26, of San Angelo, and two other unidentified male passengers. Meza was the only occupant in the Chevy Aveo.

Rios was transported to Shannon Medical Hospital with minor injuries. The passengers in the Dodge Ram were treated and released at the scene. Meza was declared dead upon arriving at Shannon.

The investigation is ongoing; no further details were released.

Baker said the crash happened in a construction zone, and reminded drivers to drive slowly and be cautious when driving through. Baker said Meza lost control for an unknown reason and went into the oncoming lane of traffic.
