Early this morning around 2:00 a.m., the San Angelo Police Department was dispatched to a major crash at the intersection of Southwest Bld. and Driftwood Dr.
When officers arrived on scene, they discovered one vehicle with one driver involved in a rollover.
SAPD Officer Herrington stated, “Call notes indicated [that] one vehicle was involved, and was upside down. The occupant was already out of the vehicle with lacerations on his face.”
Herrington added that the driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries, but he refused medical treatment by paramedics on scene.
After the investigation, officers determined the driver of the vehicle failed to maintain his speed and lost control of the vehicle.
“[The driver] hit the curb, flipped his vehicle upside down and landed in someone’s yard,” Herrington said.
The driver of the vehicle also managed to strike two objects beforehand.
“Before landing in the yard, [the driver] did strike a 'No Parking' sign and [what] is believed to be a cable box,” noted Herrington.
Additionally, after further investigation, officers conducted a field sobriety test on the driver to determine if he was driving while intoxicated.
“The driver will receive a citation for failure to control speed. [Also], upon investigation of the driving while intoxicated charges, the subject was placed under arrest. He is now going to be transported to the jail and booked for driving while intoxicated,” Herrington finalized.
