Since yesterday, 20 people made their way to the Tom Green County Jail. These arrests include Timothy James Salazar, 34, Laura L. Tapia, 35, and Carlos T. Martinez, 29. In fact, the vehicles they drove and the way they drove helped lead to their arrests.
Officer Tracy Gonzalez, public information officer for the San Angelo Police Department, said police were searching the 16oo block of S. Chadbourne for a “WANTED” vehicle. When they found the 1999 vehicle, officers located Salazar, the suspect.
“Officers observed Salazar entering Alchemy Tattoo and Piercing [at]1624 S. Chadbourne,” said Gonzalez. “An officer approached Salazar and a female who sat down on a couch in the business.”
Gonzalez stated that when the officer made eye contact with the female, later identified as Tapia, she stood up, placed her hands behind her back and told the officer she had warrants. Tapia was placed under arrest. Salazar showed he had four city warrants, so he was arrested as well.
A search incident during the arrest of Tapia also revealed approximately .5g of methamphetamine inside her purse (field-test confirmed). Salazar was transported to TGCJ for city warrants and Tapia was transported for the meth and county warrants.
This is Salazar’s 9th arrest and Tapia’s 25th in Tom Green County.
In another case this morning at 2:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to a possible drunk driver who was last seen traveling northbound from 330 W. Washington Dr. Gonzalez said the vehicle was located at E. 6th St and N. Bryant Blvd., and the driver, identified as Martinez, was indeed found to be intoxicated. He was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, and transported to the TGCJ.
Overall, 16 people were arrested on outstanding warrants, two on new complaints, and one person on a new complaint and outstanding warrants.
