A San Angelo driver went to Community Medical Center this morning after a 2007 Freightliner truck collided with her vehicle and pushed her up into a curb near Bank of America and the intersection of Twohig and Abe Street.
San Angelo Police Officer Brian Bylsma said he was dispatched to the intersection for the crash shortly before 11 a.m. Upon arrival, he learned that the Freightliner truck hauling hazardous material crashed into a 2007 Kia Spectra.
Bylsma said indicators right now show that the truck was southbound on Abe Street in the second lane from the left. The Kia was also southbound on Abe Street in the third lane from the left. Bylsma said the driver either attempted to make a left hand turn from her lane, or conducted a lane change in front of the truck.
The truck driver attempted to veer off to the right and hit his brakes, but he still ended up colliding with the Kia and pushed it up against a curb.
“The driver of the Kia Spectra has been transported to Community Hospital for unknown injuries,” said Bylsma.
Bylsma added that there were no passengers in the vehicle, and the investigation is still pending. Once done with the investigation, he’ll determine charges. For now, it appears the driver of the Kia made an unsafe lane change or attempted to turn from the wrong lane.
