A San Angelo Man Trapped in a Vehicle on North Chadbourne

At approximately 12:25 p.m., emergency responders were called out to a major motor vehicle accident on West 23rd and North Chadbourne Streets.

According to incoming reports, a male remains entrapped in a Ford Mustang after the driver ran into a utility pole. It is unclear if the individual entrapped is the driver or a passenger.

Officials have just called out AEP to assess the compromised area, and San Angelo Police are encouraging drivers to avoid this intersection. Due to the accident, officials are diverting southbound traffic.

Update 12:53 p.m. 

The entrapped male in the Mustang has been extracted from the vehicle and transported to an area hospital. He was the passenger in the vehicle. The other driver is currently being assessed for injuries. Additionally, AEP is on scene assessing the utility pole hit. The base of the pole was shattered with the impact.

Update 2:07 p.m.

According to traffic investigator Officer Steven Quade, the Brown car was headed north on Chadbourne tried to turn left onto 23^rd, but turned short, right into the utility pole.

The driver was given a citation for failure to control speed.

AEP is working on the light pole. The fire department Battalion Chief Ricky Long said that the pole was compromised and was a hazard.
