At approximately 11:00 a.m. Black Friday morning, three vehicles were involved in a crash on Bell St. and the Houston Harte Frontage Rd., said Officer Mike Gesch with the San Angelo Police Department.
Officer Gesch said the driver of a white Ford Fusion was stopped at the light on Bell St. and the Houston Harte Frontage Rd. waiting to make a left turn at the light. There was also a gray Chrysler stopped behind it waiting to make a turn when the driver of a white Chevrolet Tahoe crashed into the Chrysler causing it to hit the Fusion.
Gesch said the driver of the Chrysler was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries, but the other two drivers were okay.
As for the cause of the crash, Officer Gesch said the driver of the Tahoe claimed the brakes weren’t working properly.
“There was no indication that was the case, other than the fact that he just didn’t stop in time,” the officer said.
The driver of the Tahoe received a citation for failure to control speed, driving with an invalid license, and for an expired 30-day permit on the Tahoe.
Road conditions were wet, and during this incident, police received another call for another crash in the city. Luckily, that crash turned out to be minor, but with wet road conditions, SAPD may expect more.

Years ago, when I owned a security service that did patrol work, I had an employee who was from Alabama. He was stationed at Goodfellow Air Force Base and worked for me part time on the weekends Friday Saturday and sometimes Sunday night. On one Friday night, it had started sleeting a bit before he showed up for work. He parked his truck got the keys to my car and took off down Live Oak Street toward Washington. He returned a few minutes later saying the brakes were out on my car. I told him they had been working when I drove it just a few minutes before, and he said, "Well when I got to the stop sign on Live Oak, I slid all the way across the street because the brakes failed and I hit the curb on the other side." I sent him home after telling him about the coating of sleet on the road. I also told him to be careful because he defined the brakes on his truck or out also. He had never driven on snow or ice before.
