Bathroom Videographer of Women at Walmart To Be Deported Back to Honduras

DEL RIO – A Honduran National, arrested by the San Angelo Police Department in February, was recently turned over to U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the San Angelo Station.

On Feb. 14, the San Angelo Police Department arrested Jose Santos Argueta, 32, an undocumented immigrant from Honduras, after receiving a call from the local Walmart of a male subject illegally videotaping a woman in the stall of a women’s restroom.

On Oct. 13, Argueta was convicted of improper photography or visual recording and was subsequently given a 270-day sentence. On Nov. 11, the San Angelo Police Department turned Argueta over to San Angelo Border Patrol agents. Immigration records show that on April 29, 2009, Argueta had been previously deported from the United States.

Argueta will have his previous order of removal reinstated and he will be turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

According to the SAPD, on Feb. 14, San Angelo Police were dispatched to the Walmart on 29th St. for a subject taking a video recording of a 45-year-old Hispanic female while she was in one of the bathroom stalls.

The victim alerted Walmart staff of the incident.  Walmart staff then made contact with a male subject, Jose Santos Argueta, in the women’s restroom.  Argueta willingly exited the bathroom and stayed with Walmart staff until police arrived.

When police arrived, they made contact with all the involved parties and began an investigation.  The investigation revealed that Agueta had been inside one of the women’s bathroom stalls when the victim entered the bathroom.  While in one of the bathroom stalls, the victim could see a cell phone on the floor of the stall and could see herself on the screen.  The victim realized she was being video recorded and reported it to Walmart staff.
