At approximately 10:30 a.m., a crash at the 4100 block south of U.S. Highway 67 brought traffic to a halt and caused one driver a trip to the hospital, said Ed Hunger, traffic investigator for the San Angelo Police Department.
Hunger said traffic originally stopped on U.S. 67 in both directions because of a truck carrying an “oversize load.” The truck, which was transporting a windmill blade, was in the process of making a U-turn at the next crossover when the crash occurred.
The investigator stated that the driver of a white pickup traveling southbound stopped as necessary to allow the truck to make the turn; however, the driver of a white vehicle traveling in the same direction failed to do so and rear ended the pickup.
As a result, traffic slowed, and officials closed one lane for 30 minutes, Hunger stated.
The driver of the pickup did not seek medical attention at the scene; however, the man in the white car did go to the hospital.
“I don’t know the extent of the injuries yet,” stated Hunger.
Because of a failure to control speed, the driver of the white vehicle will receive a citation.
