SAN ANGELO, TX — The San Angelo ISD Board of Trustees will vote Monday on more than $10 million in construction and demolition projects as part of ongoing bond work and campus consolidation efforts.
The agenda for the July 21 regular meeting includes a proposed $10.3 million construction contract with Lee Lewis Construction to add eight classrooms, new restrooms, a new cafeteria with a stage and kitchen, and an additional 77 parking places at Crockett Elementary, among other site work. Trustees will also consider approving demolition bids for unused buildings at Austin and San Jacinto campuses following structural damage discovered last summer. The total cost for that work is projected at $453,800.
Board members will also vote on a lease agreement with the Council of Governments to relocate PK4 Head Start students from Rio Vista to San Jacinto, and consider a scoring rubric for future Construction Manager At-Risk selections tied to the district’s 2025 bond program.
Other action items include approval of KFW Architects for the 2025 bond projects and a proposal to increase the district’s monthly health insurance contribution for employees from $479 to $500. The employee compensation plan would also include HB2 teacher salary increases and retention incentives.
The board will review the 2025–2026 Student Code of Conduct and act on a policy related to Senate Bill 401, which allows school boards to adopt a formal position on whether non-enrolled students may participate in UIL extracurricular activities.
Following a closed session, trustees are expected to vote on the superintendent’s contract, evaluation, and 2025–2026 performance goals.
The board will also recognize staff for their response during the recent flood emergency, as well as student achievements in speech and debate, UIL state championships, and the media honor roll.
The meeting is set for 5:45 p.m. Monday at the SAISD Administration Building, 1621 University Ave., and is open to the public.
