San Angelo Mayor Responds to Data Center Controversy

SAN ANGELO, TX— The City of San Angelo has a brand-new website concerning the different types of data centers.

A meeting last night at the library about data centers caused quite a bit of pandemonium, but San Angelo LIVE! and the City of San Angelo has the facts and actual quotes from Mayor Tom Thompson.

First things first, the meeting at the library was hosted by a citizen group. Both the city and the county were not requested to be a part of the meeting. Also, this is not a done deal.

From Mayor Tom Thompson,
“The city wants to provide clear and factual information about the data center development. Any future project will be safe, well planned, and in the best long-term interest of the community.

The city’s approach to data center development prioritizes public safety, responsible resource management, infrastructure readiness, and long-term economic benefit.

Nothing moves forward without verified data compliance and governance processes.

The focus remains on facts, not speculation."

Also, the City of San Angelo just published a webpage concerning data centers which you can find by CLICKING HERE or go to sanangelo.gov/datacenter.

San Angelo LIVE! will have Mayor Thompson and other personnel in the LIVE! Studio next week to discuss the potential data center.
