HOBBS, NM –– Earlier this week, Alexis Avila was arraigned in Lea County, NM. The 18-year-old mom accused of throwing her baby into a dumpster has been granted house arrest.
The judge presiding over the arraignment placed Avila on house arrest with certain conditions. Avila will only be allowed to leave the house if she is attending school, her job, medical and counseling appointments, and religious services if her family is in attendance.
Avila will also be prohibited from being on social media and having close contact with her son or any child under the age of ten.
She will not be allowed to have male visitors and be required to wear an ankle bracelet.
The baby remains in the care of the New Mexico Department of Children, Youth, and Families. Concerned citizens wanting to donate to benefit the baby can contact the New Mexico Children Youth & Families Department’s (NMCYFD) office at 907 West Calle Sur, Hobbs, New Mexico 88240.
Donations like gift cards, new toys, clothes, diapers, hygiene products are currently being accepted. Monetary donations and used items cannot be accepted at this time.

PermalinkThis woman tried to kill her baby. I guess since she didn't succeed she only has to stay home, kind of like being grounded. I'm sure that will teach her a hard lesson. She will probably never again try to kill another child. What BS.
