Chief Standridge Becomes Finalist for Waco Police Department

ABILENE, TX — After turning down a job as Chief of Police in Amarillo, Chief Stan Standridge of Abilene PD is now a finalist for the same job in Waco.

Standridge had resigned from APD back in February after his relationship with a city employee caused “disruption in maintenance and order of the Department, which I fully recognize and assume ownership,” according to his resignation letter. Standridge has been employed with APD for 25 years.

According to KTXS, the City of Waco has employed SGR – an executive recruitment firm based in Keller that specializes in recruiting, assessing, and developing leaders for local governments. The firm is aiding with the search for a new police chief.

According to the City of Waco, they have received 91 applications from applicants in 30 states and two countries.

Abilene has begun the search for their new police chief this month and plans to hire a new chief by the end of the year.
