APD Chief Standridge Turns Down Amarillo Job. What's Next for the Chief?

ABILENE, TX – The Abilene Police Chief has turned down the opportunity to move to north-west Texas to take the chief position in Amarillo. Now the question remains where is he going to end up?

As previously reported, on Feb 25, APD Stan Standridge put in his letter of resignation after getting into a relationship from someone in the police department. Here is the original story:

Standridge received an offer from the City of Amarillo to be their police chief and has turned down the offer. KTXS received a letter the chief sent to his staff regarding his decision.

"This week, I interviewed with Amarillo to become their next police chief," Standridge said in the email. "After long and careful consideration, I chose not to take the job."

He finished the email by stating, "During this time, I have worked tirelessly for our Department. That will not change, as I continue to advocate for our employees and our citizens," Standridge said in the email. "I will continue to contend for this Department as we move forward."

It is unclear whether the chief has decided to stay in Abilene or move to another large city.

I hear the mall is looking for an officer to harass teen smokers and skateboarders. If he REALLY applies himself, he might make a good mall cop.
But seriously, why would he apply, interview and be handed the job, and yet turn it down. Fishy, like just about everything he's touched at APD.
