$14.25 Million Lottery Ticket Claimed in Abilene two Days Before Expiring

A $14.25 million lottery ticket was purchased in Abilene, Texas over the summer. Yesterday, just two days before the ticket was to expire, the ticket was claimed.

The Texas Lottery Commission says AHSODESKA Trust, Catherine Kim Fowlkes, Trustee, of Abilene claimed the Lotto Texas jackpot prize on Tuesday on behalf of an unidentified winner.

The ticket was purchased at H-E-B on Barrow Street. The winning number was drawn on June 17. H-E-B received a bonus check of $142,696.06 for selling the winning lottery ticket.

The commission says the winner has requested “minimal publicity,” but says she has chosen to receive one lump sum payment of $10,072,040.86.

As the Powerball climbs to a whopping $229 million, residents of San Angelo are trying to claim their chance to win. The drawing is tonight at 10:12 pm CT. The estimated cash total is about $144.5 million.
