Brady Bulldogs Fall to Perennial Powerhouse in the Puncherdome

MASON, TX — The Brady Bulldogs traveled south to Mason to take on the Punchers in the Puncherdome in Week Two of the 2023 Texas High School Football Season.

It was a rough night for the Bulldogs as the Punchers ended up winning 41-7. At the beginning of the game, Brady forced Mason to punt the ball. Then, Brady went right down the field and scored on a Zeke Jones run from one yard out.

Mason’s Sutton Silerio scored next on a 10-yard run. The Punchers' quarterback Frankie Bolley ran in a short score as well that added another seven points to Mason’s total so far, making the score 14-7.

Things began getting one-sided after a Hunter Bradley interception where he made a tremendous play. Ryne Todd took in the next touchdown to go up 21-7. If things were one-sided after this, Jones had a run where he didn’t believe he touched the ground, but the play was blown dead at the stop where he rolled off a defender.

The Bulldogs went into halftime down 21-7.

Into the third quarter, Mason’s Clancey Osborn picked off a Sean Jacoby pass that was tipped right to him. Mason’s Silero then ran 27 yards for another touchdown, and after missing the extra point, the Punchers were up 27-7.

With about 7:34 left in the third, Bradley for Mason picked off Jacoby, which led to another Todd touchdown run to put Mason firmly in the lead 34-7.

With 51 seconds left in the 4th quarter, Todd picked off a pass intended for Mason Airheart, which ended up with Mason celebrating another score by someone else but Silerio. That touchdown was the last in the game, and the Punchers won 41-7.

Bulldog head coach Jaron Roberts had this to say after the game.

Brady is in for another tough matchup next week as they’ll take on the Coleman Bluecats.
