Wall's Defense Shuts Out Pilot Point for Bi-District Win

EARLY, TX-- The Wall Hawks beat the Pilot Point Bearcats 20-0 in the bi-district championship.

The Hawks won in a great defensive performance where they forced 4 turnovers.

The first drive of the game it didn't take Wall long to get the momentum as Austin Gray caught an interception by Jacob Pitts. Wall drove the field until Mason Fuchs threw his first interception of the game to Bryson Griffin.

The following drive, it seemed that the Bearcats were on their way to the endzone when Pitts threw his second interception. This time it was Lane Ashley who came down with it.

At the end of the first quarter the score was tied at 0-0.

The second play of the second quarter, Fuchs threw his first touchdown to a wide open Hunter Teplicek in broken coverage, but the extra-point was blocked to keep the score 6-0.

The following drive by Wall, they started with 7 minutes, 22 seconds left in the first half. They ended up going for it on fourth, but because of penalties they turned it over.

"It's a testament to our guys on the inside and our receivers who come in and pick up blocks," said head coach Houston Guy on the Hawks' high time of possession.

At the end of the first half, the score was 6-0.

To start the second half Wall came out with a steady drive where they ended up capping it off with a Fuchs throwing a 32-yard touchdown to Mason Kindle.

The Bearcats on the other hand had troubles after the half. They fumbled on a crucial four and out stop by Wall. At the end of the third quarter the score was 12-0.

After this turnover on downs, it seemed like the Hawks were going to get in the endzone until Fuchs fumbled the ball on his own 6-yard line.

The defense for Wall didn't take this fumble lightly as they wanted to finish the shut out. Cameron Barnes came up with another turnover for the Hawks, as Pitts threw his third interception.

"We just tried to keep everything in front of us and pressure the quarterback," said coach Guy on defensive play. "Us keeping them out of the end zone was a big reason [we won], and it allowed us to take a lot of risks."

Kye Herbert put the game out of reach when he ran one in from 3 yards out. They went for two on a direct snap play for the final score of 20-0.

Wall (8-2) will move on to play Bushland at Lubbock Cooper next week.
